An active performer in professional theatre, film, television and commercials, AMY DOLAN MALANEY, Soprano has many credits to her name. She was in the first national tour and original cast recording of Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up. Her numerous stage credits includes productions at the Marriott-Lincolnshire and Drury Lane in Chicago, as well as performances with the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, She Loves Me at Meadowbrook Theatre and Dead Man Walking at Michigan Opera Theatre directed by Leonard Foglia. Her film credits include appearances in Hannah and Her Sisters, Year of the Dragon and in the TV mini-series, Evergreen. A former Touring Artist for Michigan Opera Theatre, she completed her Master of Music degree at the University of Illinois and is currently working on a solo CD entitled Storyteller due out next spring. Along with her performances, she has directed Godspell Jr, The Wizard of Oz , The Music Man Jr and most recently, The Christmas Schooner in Marquette, Michigan. Her most recent performance was with Michigan Opera Theatre in the World Premiere of Cyrano. A native of Chicago, she resides in the Metro-Detroit area with her husband and three talented daughters.
BARBARA WILTSIE, Mezzo-Soprano is a Master of Music Voice Performance graduate of The Manhattan School of Music in NYC and has soloed with numerous symphonies, chorale groups and opera companies throughout the Midwest; including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Ann Arbor Symphony, Southwestern Michigan Symphony, Toledo Symphony, Singers Club of Cleveland under the baton of Margaret Hillis, Bach Festival of Kalamazoo, Mendelssohn Chorale of Pittsburgh under the direction of Robert Page, Michigan Opera Theater in Carmen as Mercedes and Rigoletto as Giovanna, Des Moines Metro Opera in Madama Butterfly as Kate Pinkerton, Fargo-Moorhead Civic Opera in Hansel & Gretel as Hansel, Opera!Lenawee as the title role in Carmen, and Toledo Opera in Carmen as Mercedes, The Mikado as Pitti-Sing and Gianni Schicci as La Ciesca. Other roles include Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, the Mother in Amahl & the Night Visitors, and Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti, a role she recently portrayed for Arbor Opera Theatre of Ann Arbor.
A former long-time Touring Artist for the Michigan Opera Theatre, Ms. Wiltsie has garnered many awards—such as the Metropolitan Opera Council Award as a two-time District Winner and Regional Finalist, winner of the Friedrich Schorr Memorial Performance Prize and a winner in the National Opera Association Artist Awards. Along with performing in Act II, she also produces and performs operatic and Broadway selections with fellow professionals in SOPRANOS THREE!. Ms. Wiltsie is an Assistant Professor of Voice at Madonna University in Livonia where she is the Director of the Lyric Theatre Program, maintains an extensive studio teaching voice to teens and adults, and is an adjudicator/member for both N.A.T.S. Michigan Chapter (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and MSVMA (Michigan Schools Vocal Music Association). In addition to her university duties, she co-directs the Summer Musical Theatre Workshops for middle and high school students at Madonna University.
Tenor, MICHAEL PARR was a winner of the Friedrich Schorr International Voice Competition and a finalist in the American Traditions Competition in Savannah, GA. He has been seen singing on Bloomfield’s Cable feature “Time Out for Opera", on the Church of Today's weekly television broadcasts and on Detroit’s Channel 7 holiday specials. A versatile artist, Michael has performed in many operas, oratorios, musicals, and concerts in the USA and abroad. His lead roles of many musical productions include Jekyll & Hyde, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Showboat, Secret Garden, Cinderella, Once Upon Mattress, Annie, and Babes In Toyland and he is featured on over 12 recordings of the works of Victor Herbert and Jerome Kern. As a solo artist, he performed with the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, Michigan Sinfonietta Orchestra, Arbor Opera Theater, Great Lakes Opera Company, Comic Opera Guild, Verdi Opera Theater of Michigan, Windsor Symphony Orchestra and Michigan Opera Theater. Upcoming performances include Pontiac Arts, Beats and Eats, Michigan Opera Theater’s Community Outreach Programs, Handel’s Messiah, Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors and Puccini’s Gianni Schicci.
You may have seen Baritone, PAUL SILVER as Steve Baker in Showboat at the Fisher Theatre, or in one of over 20 other Michigan Opera Theatre productions including The Music Man, Kismet, Pirates of Penzance, The Magic Flute & Norma, featuring Dame Joan Sutherland. He studied voice and received his BA degree in PR/Marketing at Wayne State University, and completed his MBA from the University of Michigan. He performed in the main stage chorus of the Inaugural Gala of the Detroit Opera House, and Aida in concert, both featuring Luciano Pavarotti. Founder of the Encore Ensemble, he produced their first CDs, The Encore Christmas Collection. An MSU Master Gardener and is celebrating his 30th year as a community volunteer, having worked 'Paint the Town' Detroit home improvement campaigns, on the Board of Trustees of the Rackham Symphony Choir, fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and as a radio broadcaster on the Detroit Radio Information Service (DRIS) for the blind & physically impaired.
Pianist, LOIS KAARRE is an active pianist and teacher in southeast Michigan. She teaches piano at Oakland University, where she also serves as accompanist for faculty and guest artist recitals and student performances. Experiencing a long career collaborating in recitals with singers and instrumentalists from southeast Michigan to Carnegie Hall, she also spent many years at Eastern Michigan University in the same capacity. She has been a coach/accompanist for the Ohio Light Opera, rehearsal pianist for the Eastman School of Music operas, and accompanist in Michigan Opera Theatre Community Programs.
Lois has completed two years of doctoral study at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, in the Accompanying and Chamber Music program and currently is the Organist/Music Director at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Pontiac.
